1. Primary School Admissions 

Summary

St. Theresa’s is a Roman Catholic Voluntary Aided Primary School with a Nursery, under the trusteeship of the Diocese of Salford and is maintained by Oldham Local Authority. As a Voluntary Aided School, the Governing Body is the Admissions Authority and is responsible for taking decisions on applications for admissions. The co-ordination of admissions arrangements is undertaken by the Local Authority.

For the school year commencing September 2016, the Governing Body has set its planned admission number (PAN) at 30.

Admission Criteria

Admission to the school will be made by the Governing Body. All preferences listed on the Local Authority Preference Form will be considered on an equal basis with the following set of admissions criteria forming a priority order where there are more applications for admission than the school has places available.

  1. Any child having a Statement of Special Educational Needs, which names St. Theresa’s RC Primary School, will have precedence over all other applicants. 
  2. Baptised Roman Catholic Looked After Children and previously Looked After Children
  3. Baptised Roman Catholic children with a brother or sister attending the school at the time of admission
  4. Baptised Roman Catholic children resident in the parishes of Sacred Heart and Our Lady’s or St. Mary’s
  5. Baptised Roman Catholic children who are resident in other parishes
  6. Other Looked After Children and previously Looked After Children
  7. Other children who will have a brother or sister attending the school at the time of admission
  8. Other children

If for any reason, you’re unhappy with the application process you are able to make an objection to the Office of the Schools Adjudicator.


2. Nursery Admissions

Admission into the Nursery Class at St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Primary School will be on a part time basis and made by the Governing Body in accordance with the parental applications subject to the following set of Admissions criteria forming a priority order where there are more applications for admission than the Nursery has places available.

For the school year commencing September 2016 the Governing Body has set its admissions number at 26 full time equivalent.

Parents of children in the Nursery are entitled to 15 hours of free provision each week.

Admissions Criteria:

  1. Baptised Roman Catholic Looked After Children and previously Looked After Children
  2. Baptised Roman Catholic children who have a sibling in the Primary School at the time of admission Scared Heart and Our Lady’s or St. Mary’s.
  3. Other Looked After Children and Previously Looked After Children
  4. Other children who have a sibling in the Primary School at the time of admission
  5. Other children

Attendance at the nursery is not a guarantee of a place in the Reception class of the school.

Parents/carers considering an application to the school are warmly invited to tour the school with the Headteacher.  Please contact the school for an appointment.

Transferring From Another School

Parents and children transferring from another school are encouraged to visit the school for a pre-transfer welcoming visit to ensure they have all the information required prior to them starting.
