At St. Theresa’s we aim to provide an inclusive environment, reflecting the aims of our Mission Statement, where children feel respected, valued and secure and are encouraged to show love and respect to others.
Teaching and Learning at St. Theresa’s
Usually children with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) will be provided for through quality first teaching and differentiation in the curriculum, allowing them to be educated alongside their peers in the classroom. We use many
teaching and learning styles and have a range of resources that are designed to match the individual needs of all learners. The classroom environment is, wherever possible, language friendly and uses visual support for learners.
On occasions it may be necessary to withdraw the child from the classroom for specific teaching. The teaching would be in the form of individual or group interventions matched to the children’s needs or in order to follow set schemes of work set by other professionals.
When a child is identified as having SEND they will be have an individual education plan. This will highlight the child’s areas of need and the interventions that will be put into place to support and develop these areas of concern.
What is the SEND Local Offer?
Under the new legislation of the Families Bill 2014 every local authority school has to display their offer of Special Needs Provision and services available.
What is our SEND Local Offer for?
The Local Offer Report is our way of providing parents with information about how children with additional needs are provided for in our school. At St. Theresa’s RC Primary we welcome working with parents, as your child’s education and overall welfare is important.
